We are seeking a reliable and proactive individual to join our team on a Fixed-Term (18 Months) contract as an STMS or TMO–P. STMS/TMO – P Fixed Term (18 months) Position in Nelson: Main Responsibilities

• Set up, coordinate, and manage Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) systems in accordance with the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) Code of Practice.
• Ensure the safety of road users, employees, contractors, and the public at active work sites.
• Monitor, adjust, and maintain TTM devices and signage throughout project operations for ongoing compliance and safety.
• Implement changes to traffic management plans (TMPs) as required, and ensure the TMP is up to date.
• Conduct hazard identification and routine site safety checks.
• Communicate clearly with site teams, supervisors, subcontractors, and road users.
• Keep accurate records, complete required paperwork, and report incidents promptly.

Skills, Experience, and Qualities for Successful STMS/TMO – P Candidates

• Hold a current NZTA STMS (Site Traffic Management Supervisor) or TMO (Traffic Management Operative) – P Practicing warrant/certification.
• Prior experience in traffic management, roading, civil construction, or a similar field is essential.
• Strong awareness of worksite safety best practices and regulations.
• Confident communicator and team player—comfortable providing direction and working with a diverse range of people.
• Reliable, approachable, and responsive to changing circumstances on-site.
• Physically fit, with the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Hold a full New Zealand driver’s licence (Class 1); higher licence classes are advantageous but not required.
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand is essential.
