About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Construction Foreman to join our Dunedin team on a permanent basis. This role is central to the delivery of civil and roading maintenance and construction projects across the Otago Region. The successful candidate will lead small to medium sized site teams, coordinate onsite activities, and ensure works are completed safely, on schedule and to the required standard.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and lead site crews, subcontractors and plant operators to deliver planned works in accordance with programme requirements.
Coordinate daily site activities including task allocation, progress monitoring and reporting to the Site Manager or Project Supervisor.
Implement and maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance on site, including toolbox talks, hazard identification and incident reporting.
Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and TMPs (where relevant), and ensure works are completed to specification and quality requirements.
Maintain accurate site records, timesheets, and daily progress reports.
Mentor and develop crew members, promoting best practice and continuous improvement on site.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in a foreman or leading hand role within civil construction, roading or related infrastructure projects.
Sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and site safety practices; experience running toolbox talks and near‑miss/incident processes.
Ability to read plans and specifications and translate them into practical onsite instructions.
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams and subcontractors.
Good organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks under pressure.
Current New Zealand Class 1 driver licence & WTR is required; higher classes Class 2 are advantageous.
