About the Role: With exciting times ahead working on our newly awarded Kerb & Channel contract in Dunedin we are seeking 2 experienced and reliable Supervisors.
Kerb & Channel Supervisor
Asphalt Supervisor
These hands-on supervisory role will oversee kerb and channel construction & Asphalt works, ensuring high quality outcomes, safe work practices and timely delivery.
The successful candidates will lead site crews, coordinate with project managers and subcontractors, and maintain compliance with specifications and site safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate day-to-day kerb and channel/Asphalt activities on site, ensuring works are completed to programme, specification and quality standards.
Lead, mentor and allocate tasks to site crews, subcontractors and plant operators, promoting a collaborative, safety-focused culture.
Read and interpret drawings, schedules and specifications; set out works and verify levels and alignment for kerb, channel and associated footpath works.
Monitor workmanship and materials, conduct quality checks and complete site records, non-conformance reports and handover documentation.
Coordinate with the project team, traffic management personnel and stakeholders to manage site access, temporary traffic controls and minimise disruption to the public.
Operate and oversee use of plant and equipment safely; ensure maintenance and pre-start checks are completed and documented.
Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental procedures, including site inductions, PPE use, permits and toolbox talks.
Use company systems to complete daily reports, timesheets and progress updates for the project management team.
Qualifications and Skills
Proven experience supervising kerb and channel, kerbing, concrete or roading construction works or Asphalt depending on which role you are applying for.
Practical knowledge of setting out, formwork, concrete placement, finishing and backfill procedures.
Good understanding of construction specifications, NZ standards and roading best practice.
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate small site teams.
Competent record-keeping skills and comfortable using mobile devices or tablets for site reporting.
Full, valid New Zealand driver’s licence; Class 2 or higher is desirable.
Relevant industry tickets and qualifications (e.g., Site Safe, first aid) preferred. Willingness to undertake further training where required.
