About the Opportunity

We are recruiting a motivated and experienced Site Engineer to join our Christchurch-based team. This permanent role will support delivery of civil and infrastructure projects across the Canterbury region. The successful candidate will work closely with project engineers & managers, construction crews, subcontractors and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to specification.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day site engineering support for civil construction projects, including setting out, surveying checks, quality assurance and on-site verification of works.

• Coordinate with project engineers, managers and forepersons to plan and schedule construction activities, materials and resources to meet programme requirements.

• Carry out site inspections and quality control checks on earthworks, drainage, roading, utilities and structure-related works; record and report results accurately.

• Prepare daily site records, as-built information, progress reports and measurement schedules for billing and project control.

• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental policies and support hazard identification, toolbox talks and site inductions.

• Support continuous improvement by suggesting practical methods to improve productivity, quality and safety on site.

Skills & Experience

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering is essential and working towards chartered status is advantageous.

• Proven experience in civil construction site engineering, with hands-on knowledge of roading, drainage, earthworks and utilities.

• Competent with survey instruments, setting out, and interpretation of construction drawings and specifications.

• Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements on live road and construction sites.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and engage constructively with clients and stakeholders.

• Valid New Zealand driver’s licence.

• Legal right to work in New Zealand is essential.
