About the Opportunity
We are recruiting a motivated and experienced Site Engineer to join our Christchurch-based team. This permanent role will support delivery of civil and infrastructure projects across the Canterbury region. The successful candidate will work closely with project engineers & managers, construction crews, subcontractors and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to specification.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day site engineering support for civil construction projects, including setting out, surveying checks, quality assurance and on-site verification of works.
Coordinate with project engineers, managers and forepersons to plan and schedule construction activities, materials and resources to meet programme requirements.
Carry out site inspections and quality control checks on earthworks, drainage, roading, utilities and structure-related works; record and report results accurately.
Prepare daily site records, as-built information, progress reports and measurement schedules for billing and project control.
Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental policies and support hazard identification, toolbox talks and site inductions.
Support continuous improvement by suggesting practical methods to improve productivity, quality and safety on site.
Skills & Experience
Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering is essential and working towards chartered status is advantageous.
Proven experience in civil construction site engineering, with hands-on knowledge of roading, drainage, earthworks and utilities.
Competent with survey instruments, setting out, and interpretation of construction drawings and specifications.
Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements on live road and construction sites.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and engage constructively with clients and stakeholders.
Valid New Zealand driver’s licence.
Legal right to work in New Zealand is essential.
