About the Role
We are seeking reliable and safety-focused Labourer's to join our kerb & footpath contract team in Dunedin. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor civil construction work, takes pride in delivering quality finishing, and wants to be part of a skilled crew delivering essential local infrastructure.
As a labourer on the kerb & footpath contract, you will support concreters, machine operators and the site foreman with preparation, formation, finishing and general site tasks to ensure works are completed safely, on time and to specification.
What you’ll be doing
Assist with kerb and channel and footpath preparation, including setting out, formation, compacting, and timbering for concrete pours.
Prepare and handle materials such as concrete, sand, aggregate, and bedding material; mix, pour and finish concrete under the direction of concreters.
Support excavator operators with hand digging, cleaning out trenches, wheelbarrowing material and levelling formation to levels specified by the site team.
Maintain site housekeeping, load and unload materials, operate basic hand tools and small plant, and assist with maintenance tasks as required.
Follow site-specific health and safety procedures, wear personal protective equipment, attend toolbox talks and contribute to a safe workplace culture.
What you’ll bring
Previous experience in civil construction, kerb and footpath works or similar labouring roles is preferred but trainees with a strong work ethic are encouraged to apply.
Current NZ driver licence (Class 1 essential) and a willingness to obtain WTR & higher licence preferred.
Good awareness of health and safety obligations, including experience working near live carriageways and with basic traffic management procedures.
Physically fit, able to perform manual tasks outdoors in varying weather conditions and comfortable working in a team environment.
Reliable, punctual with good communication skills and a positive attitude towards learning and upskilling.
