About the Opportunity – Traffic Supervisor & Communications Advisor Position
Are you ready to play a key role in keeping our roads, worksites, and communities connected and safe? We are seeking a diligent and people-focused individual for the pivotal role of Traffic Supervisor & Communications Advisor in Nelson. You’ll combine strong leadership in traffic management with top-notch communication skills to assist our Stakeholder Manager, ensuring efficient operations and exceptional stakeholder engagement across vital projects in the region.
Key Responsibilities – Traffic Supervision and Communications Coordination
- Oversee the daily planning and implementation of traffic management systems to ensure compliance with all safety regulations, best practices, and relevant legislation.
- Supervise traffic management teams, fostering a collaborative and performance-driven work environment.
- Act as a primary point of contact for communication between site teams, contractors, clients, and local authorities regarding all aspects of traffic management and site activities.
- Coordinate and deliver timely updates on works, disruptions, and safety notifications to stakeholders through effective channels, including digital communications, signage, and meetings.
- Respond swiftly and professionally to any incidents, changes, or unplanned events, keeping all parties informed and operations on track.
- Champion a strong health, safety, and inclusion culture in line with company policies and the highest industry standards.
- Assist in developing and reviewing traffic management plans as required for various sites and projects.
Skills & Experience – Traffic Management & Communication Expertise
- Demonstrated experience supervising or coordinating traffic management activities, ideally within civil infrastructure or related sectors.
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to clearly convey technical or complex information to a range of audiences.
- Sound knowledge of local and national traffic management regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
- Exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and mentor traffic control teams, championing a respectful and inclusive workplace.
- Comfortable utilising digital tools for stakeholder communications, record-keeping, and reporting.
- Hold a current and full New Zealand driver’s licence. Traffic Control - Lead STMS qualification is essential.
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand is essential.
