About the Opportunity – Drainage Supervisor

We are on the lookout for a motivated, reliable, and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a Drainage Supervisor. Based in Dunedin, this practical role is perfect for someone passionate about the delivery of quality drainage solutions and the development of inclusive, high-performing teams. You’ll be pivotal in supporting our major projects and ensuring excellence throughout the construction and maintenance of drainage systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of drainage installation, maintenance, and repair works on various construction and infrastructure projects.
- Lead, motivate, and manage a team of drainage workers and subcontractors, fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
- Co-ordinate daily activities, assigning tasks and monitoring progress to ensure works are completed to the highest standards and within deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental protocols, championing a safety-first culture at all times.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and clients regarding project requirements, progress, and any issues or changes onsite.
- Assist in the planning and review of drainage methodologies and risk assessments, promoting continuous improvement across the team.
- Accurately maintain daily records, site documentation, and deliver regular updates and reports as required.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience supervising drainage works or similar roles within civil infrastructure, earthworks, or utilities construction.
- Solid technical understanding of drainage systems, construction methodologies, plant, and materials.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills, with an ability to mentor and develop diverse teams.
- Familiarity with New Zealand health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to drainage operations.
- Competence in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and work programmes.
- Proficient in using site management tools and digital reporting systems.
- Current and full New Zealand driver’s licence (Class 1). Relevant industry qualifications (e.g. Certifying Drainlayer, WTR endorsements).
- Legal right to work in New Zealand.
