About the Traffic Management Designer Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Traffic Management Designer to join our team in Christchurch. In this key role, you will develop, review, and implement traffic management plans that ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians on roads and construction sites. You will work closely with engineering teams, project managers, and local authorities to provide innovative and compliant solutions for temporary and permanent traffic arrangements.
Key Responsibilities for Traffic Management Design Jobs
Produce detailed traffic management and temporary traffic control plans using CAD software and other relevant technologies.
Ensure all designs comply with NZTA, local council, and national standards.
Conduct site assessments and traffic surveys to inform data-driven design solutions.
Engage with clients and stakeholders to present proposals and address technical questions.
Prepare clear traffic signage drawings, diversion routes, and phasing diagrams.
Support health and safety initiatives by identifying and mitigating potential road risks.
Required Skills and Qualifications for Traffic Management Designer Position
Demonstrable experience in traffic management design or road safety engineering.
Be a fully qualified practicing Traffic Management Designer.
Good knowledge of NZ highway regulations.
Proficient in AutoCAD and other traffic management design tools.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
An understanding of compliance, risk assessment, and permit application processes.
Full NZ driving licence.
