Key Responsibilities – Construction Supervisor Jobs Dunedin
- Supervise and coordinate daily site operations for civil infrastructure projects, ensuring works are completed safely, to specification, and within programmed timeframes.
- Lead, motivate, and mentor diverse crews, driving a positive culture of teamwork, professionalism, and development.
- Champion health and safety best practice, conduct regular site inspections, tool-box talks, and ensure compliance with all legislative and company requirements.
- Interpret project plans, specifications, and construction drawings, liaising productively with Project Engineers, Foremen, clients, and subcontractors.
- Allocate resources, organise materials, plant, and people to optimise site productivity while controlling costs.
- Monitor work quality, resolve operational challenges, provide technical guidance, and facilitate prompt problem-solving on site.
- Maintain accurate daily records, site documentation, and report progress and issues to project management teams.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and team members, ensuring effective and inclusive communication and prompt resolution of concerns.
Skills & Experience – Civil Construction Supervisor Roles
- Proven experience supervising teams on civil construction or infrastructure projects, with demonstrated ability to deliver successful project outcomes.
- Strong working knowledge of New Zealand construction practices, safety regulations, and site management techniques.
- Excellent leadership, team-building, and communication skills, with a collaborative and constructive approach to solving problems.
- Ability to interpret and action project specifications, read construction plans, and maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Highly organised, adaptable, and resilient, with a keen focus on quality, timeframes, and cost control.
- Competency in daily site reporting, timesheets, and basic computer use for documentation and communication.
- Relevant trade or supervisory qualification, Site Safe or NZQA certification advantageous; a full New Zealand driver’s licence is essential.
- Physically fit, with the capability to thrive in dynamic, outdoor construction settings.
