Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day maintenance and repair operations for water supply, wastewater, and stormwater networks, delivering safe, compliant and efficient service to the community.
- Supervise, motivate, and develop diverse maintenance teams, promoting a respectful and inclusive workplace culture.
- Oversee planned and reactive works, allocate resources effectively, and ensure jobs are completed to high standards and within agreed timeframes.
- Champion health, safety, and environmental compliance, undertaking regular site inspections, risk assessments, and toolbox meetings.
- Coordinate closely with asset owners, project managers, contractors, and the public to ensure effective communication and service delivery.
- Monitor asset condition, identify improvement opportunities, and contribute to continuous process and safety improvements in 3 Waters operations.
- Maintain accurate records of work undertaken, incidents, and site conditions; manage basic reporting and compliance documentation.
- Respond to urgent call-outs and after-hours emergencies as required to maintain essential water operations.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience supervising teams in water, wastewater, stormwater, or civil maintenance environments highly regarded.
- Solid technical knowledge of 3 Waters assets, maintenance techniques, and New Zealand regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills, with the ability to coach others and foster a positive team environment.
- Well-developed problem-solving skills and capability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Physically fit, with confidence working outdoors and responding to operational emergencies.
- Full New Zealand Driver’s Licence essential; Class 4 + WTR preferred.
- Comfortable with digital reporting, work order systems, and worksite documentation.
