About the Role: We are seeking experienced and reliable Traffic Management Specialists (STMS) A & B to join our Tauranga team. This is a hands-on role supporting roadwork projects through, implementation to monitoring of traffic management plans to ensure safe movement for workers, road users and pedestrians. Successful applicants will demonstrate strong attention to detail, effective communication skills and a commitment to health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, set up, maintain and remove temporary traffic management in line with site-specific traffic management plans and NZTA/industry standards.

• Operate as STMS A or STMS B on projects, supervising and directing the work of traffic management crews.

• Ensure all traffic management devices (signage, cones, barriers, temporary signals) are correctly placed and maintained throughout the works.

• Conduct regular site inspections and monitor traffic flows to identify and rectify hazards or non-compliant setups promptly.

• Complete accurate daily site logs, quality checks and incident reports using company systems.

• Communicate effectively with site supervisors, contractors, clients and the public to coordinate safe access and minimise disruption.

• Provide on-the-job mentoring and training to less experienced team members where required.

• Adhere to all health, safety and environmental requirements on site, including PPE use, site inductions and permit procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

• Current STMS A and/or STMS B certification. Applicants must hold the appropriate level for the role advertised.

• Proven experience in temporary traffic management, roadworks or a related role.

• Strong understanding of NZTA/industry traffic management standards and safe work practices.

• Practical knowledge of traffic management equipment and basic maintenance.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.

• Ability to work independently, manage priorities and supervise small teams on site.

• Competent record-keeping skills and comfort using mobile devices or tablets for reporting.

• Full, valid New Zealand driver’s Licence ideally Class 2.
