About the Opportunity
Are you a skilled and reliable construction operator seeking a permanent role in Christchurch?
We are looking for a Construction Operator to join our civil construction team. This role supports the delivery of a range of infrastructure projects across the Canterbury region, operating plant and machinery to achieve safe, efficient and high-quality outcomes for our clients and communities.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and maintain earthmoving and construction plant (e.g. excavators, loaders, rollers, dozers) safely and competently in accordance with manufacturer and company requirements.
Complete pre-start checks, routine maintenance and defect reporting to ensure plant is fit for purpose.
Carry out construction tasks such as bulk earthworks, trenching, backfilling, compaction, and final shaping to meet project specifications and drawings.
Work closely with site supervisors and other crew to sequence works, support traffic management arrangements and ensure efficient site progress.
Contribute to a positive team culture, demonstrating flexibility and a strong work ethic on-site.
Skills & Experience – What You’ll Bring
Proven experience operating various construction plant in civil works, roading, utilities or earthworks projects.
Relevant plant licences/endorsements.
Sound understanding of site safety practices, traffic management principles and environmental controls.
Ability to read and work from basic plans and instructions; good communication and teamwork skills.
Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Valid New Zealand driver’s licence and the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
