About the Role
We are seeking a dependable Construction Operator to join our Dunedin team on a permanent basis. This hands-on role supports the delivery of civil works and roading maintenance across the Otago region. The successful applicant will operate plant and equipment, carry out general earthworks and road maintenance tasks, and work collaboratively within site crews to ensure projects are delivered safely, to specification and on time.
Key Responsibilities
Operate a range of construction plant and equipment (e.g. excavators, loaders, rollers, tip trucks) safely and efficiently in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and site instructions.
Carry out general earthworks, drainage, pavement preparation, kerbing, footpath and roadside maintenance to required quality standards.
Follow safe work practices, participate in toolbox talks, identify hazards and report incidents or near misses in line with company procedures.
Work cooperatively with team members, subcontractors and other stakeholders to achieve programme targets and maintain positive site culture.
Skills & Experience
Proven practical experience operating civil construction plant and machinery on roading or infrastructure projects.
Strong commitment to Health & Safety with knowledge of safe operating practices and experience participating in site safety systems.
Ability to read basic site drawings and follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
Good communication and teamwork skills with a positive, proactive approach to tasks and problem solving.
Current New Zealand Class 2 driver licence & WTR is required; Class 4 or higher is advantageous.
Legal right to work in New Zealand.
